ffreborn Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn video tours revamped Gridania

What do tiny flying kittens with handbags and little round houses with thatched roofs have in common? They are both a part of the revamped City-State of Gridania in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. OK, so the flying kitten creatures are actually called delivery moogles, and thanks to Square Enix’s newly released video tour of Gridania, players can get a look at them (along with all the other changes) for themselves.

Clocking in at almost five minutes, the video shows off alpha footage of various parts of the serene city-state, including cobblestone paths, waterfalls, and plenty of lush greenery. Take a look at the city reborn after the break.

I gotta say this new version looks a whole heck of a lot better than when I played the original in beta. When I played movement was sluggish like you were trying to run through molasses, combat was painfully slow and boring, no jumping, tons of invisible walls, gui was brutal, etc. From the video I have seen Reborn has improved on all aspects. It almost like a totally different game. I’ll will definitely give this another go if there is a free trial.

Wow, they really downgraded a lot of things.  Character animations seem so robotic now.  The Mun Tuy Cellar-like area looks so crappy compared to the current version.

And why is the ground always so flat everywhere?  In the current version, they at least break it up so it’s not just boring flat ground with a copy-pasted tile sprayed onto it.

Also, when are they going to show anything worthwhile?  I’ve seen more potential in Black Desert and Bless and those games haven’t been around nearly so long as FFXIV.
